District Head Rainer Guth presents the Peace Dove to Mawlina Gebhardt and Marco Fieber

For the first time, Libereco’s work in Belarus and Ukraine has been honoured with an award. The District Administrator of the Donnersberg district in Germany, Rainer Guth, honoured Libereco with the Peace Dove on Tuesday as part of the 49th Kirchheimbolanden Peace Days.

Libereco received the Peace Dove from the District Administrator of the Donnersberg district in Rhineland-Palatinate (Germany) on Tuesday. “The District Administrator’s Peace Dove will spend another year in Ukraine, as circumstances require. Libereco provides humanitarian aid in Ukraine and supports political prisoners in Belarus,” as stated in the programme of the 49th Kirchheimbolanden Peace Days. District Administrator Rainer Guth praised the work of Libereco: “It is obvious how valuable the work of Libereco is. As a relatively small organisation, it does an impressive job.”

The Peace Dove is awarded to individuals, initiatives or organisations that have rendered outstanding services to peace. The award is a bronze figure. As an ambassador for peace, it flies around the world every year with a bronze olive branch in its beak. The dove stays with the award winners for a year, who keep the branch as a permanent memento.

The award was accepted by Libereco Chair Malwina Gebhardt and Executive Director Marco Fieber.
