We are creating appropriate and needs-based places for people in need of care who have to be evacuated from places close to the front line. This will enable us to bring more vulnerable people to safety and protect them from the Russian occupation and associated risks.
People in need of care are among the most vulnerable groups in war. Ongoing attacks force them to flee their homes, sometimes repeatedly. Due to their limited mobility and care needs, they urgently need safe and adequate shelter and assistance. However, many refuse to evacuate if there is no prospect of adequate shelter.
Our aim is to protect vulnerable people from the risks associated with the Russian occupation. By creating additional care places, people in need of care are given a positive option and are, therefore, more likely to agree to evacuation. We are creating suitable places in nursing homes and emergency shelters by adapting buildings to the needs of people with disabilities, making them accessible and equipping them appropriately.
Together with our partner organisation AoS, we are creating new places in nursing homes to give people a safe and dignified place to live after they have been evacuated. We support nursing homes and emergency shelters with renovations and structural changes (such as making them accessible) and with the purchase of furniture, such as nursing beds.
