Emergency Relief for Vulnerable Groups in Kharkiv (2025)

In Kharkiv region, we provide vulnerable people with basic food and hygiene items, hot meals, and emergency assistance following the shelling of homes.

SITUATION

SITUATION

The humanitarian situation in the Kharkiv region remains extremely dire. Ongoing hostilities, missile and drone attacks, as well as artillery shelling of numerous villages, continue to force people to flee and further exacerbate the crisis. In the city of Kharkiv alone, 200,000 internally displaced persons have sought refuge. Having lost their livelihoods, they are particularly reliant on humanitarian aid.

OUR GOAL

OUR GOAL

LIBERECO is committed to providing urgently needed aid to the people of Kharkiv. Our aim is to provide internally displaced persons and other affected people with essential items based on their needs. As a small organisation, we are able to respond quickly and flexibly to gaps in the humanitarian aid.

HOW WE HELP

In 2024, as part of our emergency aid efforts for Kharkiv, we were able to support a total of 7,742 people. Given the ongoing crisis, we will continue our humanitarian assistance for the people of Kharkiv in 2025.

Essential Aid for Vulnerable Groups

People in remote villages and internally displaced persons in Kharkiv receive food and hygiene supplies tailored to their needs. The food packages include sugar, pasta, buckwheat, rice, oats, canned stew, canned fish, canned meat, condensed milk, tea, and oil. Hygiene packages contain shower gel, shampoo, liquid soap, wet wipes, dishwashing liquid, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and laundry detergent. In 2024, we provided over 1,000 people with food and hygiene products for several weeks.

Emergency Relief for Shelling Victims

Following attacks on civilian infrastructure, affected individuals often lose access to their homes for hours, leaving them exposed outdoors without protection. Our emergency response team provides victims of such attacks with hot drinks, food, warm blankets, and access to electricity while offering trauma-sensitive initial support.

“Mama-Mobile” for Single Mothers

We support our partner organization DVR’s “Mom-Mobile” initiative, which provides humanitarian aid for mothers with young children in Kharkiv. This project is aimed at single mothers who, despite frequent shelling, have remained in the city. They can easily request assistance from DVR via Instagram, and once a month, aid packages are distributed directly in residential areas.
