On 7 September, masked people kidnapped the Belarusian opposition politician Maria Kolesnikova, and one day later she was to be deported to neighbouring Ukraine, which the 38-year-old opposed. Since then, the Belarusian authorities have held Kolesnikova imprisoned, she has been declared a suspect in a criminal case. We demand her immediate release!

This enabled her to prevent her planned deportation to Ukraine. Ms Kolesnikova was subsequently arrested by the Belarusian authorities. I hereby call on you to release Maria Kolesnikova immediately and unconditionally! I also call on you to ensure the physical integrity and safety of Maria Kolesnikova. The abduction of Ms Kolesnikova by state security forces and her attempted deportation are totally unacceptable and I condemn them in the strongest terms. Those responsible must be punished. I expect you to ensure that Ms. Kolesnikova and all other citizens of Belarus can freely and unimpeded exercise their human rights to freedom of expression and assembly as laid down in the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. September wurde die Oppositionspolitikerin Maria Kolesnikowa in Minsk von maskierten Männern entführt. In der Nacht zum 8. September sollte Frau Kolesnikowa gesetzeswidrig aus ihrem Heimatland Belarus in die Ukraine deportiert werden. Um dies zu verhindern, hat Frau Kolesnikowa ihren Pass zerrissen. Sie konnte ihre geplante Abschiebung in die Ukraine damit verhindern. Im Anschluss daran wurde Frau Kolesnikowa von den belarussischen Behörden festgenommen. Hiermit fordere ich Sie dazu auf, Maria Kolesnikowa sofort und bedingungslos freizulassen! Ich fordere Sie zudem dazu auf, die körperliche Unversehrtheit und die Sicherheit von Maria Kolesnikowa sicherzustellen. Die Entführung von Frau Kolesnikowa durch staatliche Sicherheitskräfte und ihre versuchte Deportation sind vollkommen inakzeptabel und werden von mir in aller Schärfe verurteilt. Die dafür Verantwortlichen müssen bestraft werden.
